Regulations on Course Selection for International Students at NEFU

Course selection is an important component of the implementation of credit system, and it has a direct influence on the quality of students cultivation, the arrangement of class schedule, the normal operation of teaching programs and the recording of scores. For the purpose of further reinforcing and regulating the management of students’ course selection and ensuring the smooth operation of the teaching program, the regulations on course selection are formulated in accordance with the current situations at NEFU.

Chapter One: Course Selection for International Degree Students

1. In accordance with relevant rules and regulations and the training program, the teachers in the academic school of the relevant majors and the supervisors should guide students in course selection.

2. Since course selection is a part of the teaching program, international students should take part in person. Asking others to select course or selecting course on behalf of others is prohibited.

3. International students can use their student number and passwords to log into the online course selection system. After completing the course selection, the account should be logged off. Student number and passwords, as the evidence of selecting courses and searching results, should be kept well.

4. At the regulated period of course selection, international students can search and change the results of course selection at any time in accordance with the Training Programs for International Students at NEFU. After the course selection, the selected courses cannot be altered. If it’s necessary, international students should fill in the Application Form for Changing Courses. After the signature of the supervisor, the leader in the academic school and the teacher, the form should be submitted to SIEE/International Student Affairs Office. Changing courses should be finished within 2 weeks after registration.

5. The teachers in the academic school will set the timetable according to the results of course selection. International students can not take the class and the exams for the course which he/she didn’t select. If international students didn’t take the exam or take the classes, the courses will be recorded “0” or “Fail”.

6. Any change of the Training Program for International Undergraduate Students or for International Graduate Students will be published on the website of School of International Education and Exchanges/ International Student Affairs Office so that international students will have a better understanding of the courses.

7. International students should follow the instructions from the supervisors do not miss the selection of the compulsory courses or the selective courses which are important for his/her further studies.

8. International students who fail the exam and didn’t get the credits can retake the course in the next semester. International students are not allowed to retake the courses which they have passed and get the credits.

9. Before re-taking any course, the international students should be familiar with the curriculum schedule of this semester. For any failure in online course selection due to the course arrangement or the alteration to the training program, the academic school should make the detailed arrangements and the international students should fill in International Students’ Application Form for Retaking the Courses, and submit it to School of International Education and Exchanges/ International Student Affairs Office. After getting the approval and signature from teacher, the course selection can be performed.

Chapter Two: Course Selection for International Non-degree Students

10. School of International Education and Exchanges/ International Student Affairs Office will guide the international non-degree students who will learn their major courses together with other Chinese students to select the courses, do scientific research and finish field word according to their grades and major in the host school and fill in the Application Form for Taking Courses Together with Chinese Students. After getting the approval from SIEE/ International Student Affairs Office and teachers in academic schools, the results for course selection will be valid.

11. Exchange students should fill the Course Selection Application Form for Exchange Students at NEFU to Choose International Courses and Special Courses before coming to NEFU. SIEE/ International Student Affairs Office will inform the students of the results and give the Studying Plan at NEFU back to the host university where the exchange students come from.

Chapter Three: Supplementary Provisions

12. School of International Education and Exchanges/ International Student Affairs Office has the final right to interpret the articles and items listed above and the regulations shall be implemented since their issuance.
