1.Food

In Harbin, students have the pleasure to experiencetheauthentic Northeast flavor dishes.TheNortheast cooking style includes stew, serving islargeand flavor is intense as thereisextra salt in the dishes. There is also authentic Russian food available in Harbin. As of now, there are many authentic Russian restaurants all over the city, and most of them are around the Center Road of Harbin.Special Russian bread is also available in Harbin,and it isalways worth a try. The serving ofdisheshere is usually very huge, and mostdishes are cooked bystew, because of the weather here, most of food will contain more salt and sodium than normal. If you are on a low sodium diet or sweet is your favorite, you can always tell the waiter ahead of time.

Our university has two cafeterias,whichserve great Chinese food. There is also Muslim food available in Moslem restaurant. International student apartments are all equipped with kitchens in case you need to cook for your own food.

2.Transportation

Inside the city of Harbin, traffic can be complicated sometimes, because of the volume of cars, please proceed with caution when walking outside. Keep to your right and mind all the traffic lights. Proceed when green, stop when red.

Despite all the complication, our university’s position makes it easy to travel around the city, there are many buses and taxis available around our university. There are usually many taxis waiting right outside our gate,the priceis 9 Chinese Yuan to start with, after 3 km, it will be 1.9 Yuan for every kilometer.The main bus lines includenumber 10, 68, 73, 75, 102, 121 and 338 buses and they cantakeyou almost everywhere in Harbin city

Thereissubway available near our university, under 8 stationsthe pricewill be 2 Yuan, more than 13 stationsitwill be 4 Yuan, anywhere in between will be 3 Yuan.

3.Shopping

There are two supermarkets inside our university where students can purchase almost everything.

There are two more supermarketsjustoutside our university, one is Carrefour, and the other isSong Lei supermarkets ,located at the sub-level 1 of Song Lei Commercial Building. After you exit our university in the main gate andturn right, it is just a15-minute walk to arrive there.

There are also many othershoppingcenters in Harbin city waiting for you to experience.
