On the afternoon of November 7, NEFU and Aston University held the 2023 Joint Management Committee (JMC) of Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs with an online and offline video conference. Li Shunlong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University, Alecks Subic, President of Aston University, Mike Caine, Vice President of Aston University, Stephen Garrett, Vice President of Aston University, and heads of relevant departments of the two universities attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Alecks Subic said that he was pleased to discuss the cooperation process between the two universities through the annual meeting of the Joint Program Management Committee, and to seek the direction of future cooperation. At present, the two universities have worked together to create a good learning environment for the students of the program and have provided lots of resources to support the students' growth and progress. The students of the engineering management program have performed well in Aston University, and the two universities will continue to promote the in-depth cooperation and exchanges in the future.
Li Shunlong said in his speech that Aston University is an important partner of Northeast Forestry University, and since the approval of the engineering management program, the two universities have been treating each other sincerely and cooperating pragmatically. It is hoped that in the future, on the basis of the existing cooperation, we can carry out short-term exchange visits of students, teachers' overseas training and academic exchanges, explore international scientific research cooperation and joint training of postgraduates, so as to advance the cooperation between the two universities to a new level.
Liu Zhiming, Dean of Aulin College, Xie Qifang, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, and Mujib Rehman, Head of the Department of Infrastructure and Sustainable Engineering in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences of Aston University, respectively, made a special report on the project's successful passing the assessment of the Ministry of Education's Sino-foreign Cooperative Programs and the operation of the project in 2023. Both sides had in-depth discussions and reached a broad consensus on project management, enrollment, course teaching and cultivation, students' caring and dispatching, and other aspects.
Li Shunlong said that this meeting prompted the two sides to reach a number of cooperation goals, and looked forward to strengthening the exchange of visits between teachers and students of the two universities and carrying out cooperation and exchanges at a higher level and in a wider range of fields. Mike Caine said that the two sides overcame the challenges of the epidemic and passed the assessment of the Ministry of Education's Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs, and that the programs are running well, and the graduates of the programs have excellent performance, and he hoped that the two sides could further strengthen mutual visits and expand the cooperation in future.
